Design Your Equipment

Many factors weigh into the design and selection of the equipment that’s right for your facility. Various equipment types, manufacturing materials, quality and safety features differentiate your selection possibilities. Also, the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends separate play areas for children age 5 and under then children age 5 and up. As a rule of thumb, 30 percent (30%) of your equipment budget should be allocated to patrons aged 2 to 5 and the remaining 70 percent (70%) for everyone ages 5 and up. An important note to make is that “age 5 and up” applies to children, teenagers, and adults alike and every consideration should be given to accommodate the entire family in your equipment selection.

AquaBlue International equipment falls into one of two categories; (1) waterslides and (2) water play equipment.

Waterslides
Open flume or enclosed. Body slides or inner tube rides. Drop slides. Speed slides. Kiddy slides. Family slides and Bowl Slides. AquaBlue International waterslides can be custom designed to fit your particular facility and needs and come in virtually any shape, size, type, and color. To learn more about our Waterslides visit the Product section of our website.
Water Play Equipment
Water play equipment comprises a wide assortment of aquatics related play features. AquaBlue International’s water play equipment includes aqua features (spray play), themed kiddy slides (Frog Slides & More), floatables, and water walks. When selecting specific equipment types, we recommend you consider:

Aesthetics
Do you want a waterslide that blends in with the “poolscape” or do you want something that’s going to make a bold statement. If you are purchasing the equipment for a Homeowner’s Association you’re probably going to purchase equipment with color palettes that blend with the development whereas a “pay for play” facility (like a YMCA) is looking for differentiation and marketability. Determining the right mix of differentiation must be considered carefully within the context of the overall facility design.
Materials
Safety
Most manufacturers comply with the CPSC and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard guidelines on equipment design, layout, installation and maintenance. However, when comparing equipment from several manufacturers, you will want to consider all the details as not all products are equally safe or durable. AquaBlue International’s equipment is designed to meet or exceed applicable ASTM, CPSC, and IBC codes and standards.
Cost
Other issues
When making a final purchasing decision, you will also want to consider these important points:
  • Ease of installation and availability of certified professional installers
  • Follow-up support services available from the supplier
  • Durability of materials
  • Manufacturer’s specific maintenance program
  • Manufacturer’s warranty
  • Delivery time
  • Manufacturing

One of the best ways to see the types of equipment we offer is to visit facilities that have installed the equipment you are considering purchasing. See how the equipment wears over time, talk to the maintenance crew, and seek references from others who have purchased similar equipment.
